About Cuinneog and The Butler Family |
We’d like to introduce you to our family, the Butler Family and Cuinneog is our family business which we set up in 1990 on our family farm in the West of Ireland.
Sheila and I set up the business because we wanted to produce a country butter in line with Ireland’s long tradition in the art of butter making.
The art of butter making has been with us since the Celts introduced the skill between 150 and 200 years BC. And so we took up the challenge and Cuinneog’s Irish Farmhouse Country Butter was born.
The business grew not long after that to incorporate a second product; our much loved Cuinneog Natural Buttermilk which even the Taoiseach of the time Bertie Aherne is a fan. We are committed to developing dairy products that marry traditional techniques with current production techniques to ensure that uniquely fuller flavour that is the Cuinneog flavour.
We are proud to return to the original flavour of the Celts in all our dairy products, a flavour that has been with us since before there were creameries and one that can take centre stage on the kitchen table again.
We are pleased to say that we have nine people working with us in the business, each of whom love the products just as much as we do.
In the future, we’d like to see our range of fuller flavoured dairy products expand so keep adding a little Cuinneog… for the flavour and we’ll add more for you to try.
Sincerely Yours,

Tom Butler
